Things most parents don't do....

Yesterday Bek gave a presentation to her teachers about her health issues and how they affect her ability to participate in school and do home work.  She did a fantastic job and I am incredibly proud of her but part of me still cries out "why my daughter"!

The teachers all commented on her maturity and ability to discuss her health issues with them.  Yet, that maturity makes it more difficult for her to interact with her peers on a daily basis.  She takes school seriously when she is there because of her frequent absences.  For teens without health issues, it is simply impossible to understand and that makes it difficult to empathize.
